Back from Crete
We just got back from Crete, from our summer vacation. Crystal clear water! Fresh food! Incredibly welcoming people; and, we got to visit some great spots!
Here are a few favourites:
Gramboussa Restaurant: A hilltop location. They grow their own vegetables there, with exceptional views and food.
Chania Old Town: Beautiful architecture, packed with amazing restaurants. A must-see for history, and exceptional eating.
Elefanos Beach: While the sand may not be as pink as you might expect from online photos, it’s a stunning place to spend the day. No filter!
Swim in the crystal-clear water, and let an unforgettable sunset wash over you.
Dourakis Winery: A hidden gem where you can enjoy some of the finest local wines with the owners.
They’ve built and maintained this very special place over five generations.
Biolea – Olive Oil Tasting: At the top of a mountain stands this incredible location: Here the art of olive oil making has truly been perfected.
The on-site dining experience is top-notch.
A few notes with regards to real estate
The spring market is typically strong, then it slows down a bit during the summer. But, something happens when September hits!
Whether it’s back-to-school season, the crisp morning air, or the changing colours of the leaves, buyers and sellers tend to wake up and get markets moving again!
The Bank of Canada recently announced a rate cut of 25 basis points, setting the stage for an even livelier market than we might have seen otherwise. With sales already up 12%, year-to-date, in Québec, it will be interesting to see how this plays out.
With more new listings hitting the market than ever before, a drop in interest rates is exactly what’s needed to keep the sales momentum going.
What will happen with the volume of sales? Prices? Another rate adjustment?
